Solution 17 – Blood Lysis Buffer is used for sample preparation prior to enumerating dead and viable leukocytes in blood samples, such as EDTA-treated whole blood, buffy coats, and bone marrow. The Blood Lysis Buffer is designed for preferential lysis of erythrocytes and simultaneous staining of leukocytes in blood samples. The solution contains two different dyes: acridine orange stain all nucleated cells and 4’,6-diamidino-2-phenylindole (DAPI) stains nonviable cells only.
